First Disney Blog!!

  Less than 2 months away!!!

I am just so excited!! So far, I already know 3, possibly 4 people from work that are visiting, along with a possible friend, and of course family! :) I just want to go now.

Tonight made me very excited and I hope doing this program is very beneficial to me, as well as others, in their career paths and broadening their general knowledge.  I feel like Disney will have a lot to offer me that I haven't gotten throughout any of my schooling, including Grand Valley.  I want more culture. I want more diversity. I want to go in completely blind with roommates from around the world. I want to be exposed to other languages daily. I want to be out of my comfort zone. I want to have memories that will last a life time. I want to gain as much out of life that I can. I want to do everything I can now because in the future you might not be able to take these life-changing opportunities. I want to see what a real 40-hour a week job (and many more I'm sure!) will be like. I want to explore. I want to stay young and take every opportunity that I can get.  And personally, I feel like the Disney internship can offer my "wants" very easily.

Fun facts from the meeting:
  • The first ticket price into Magic Kingdom was $3.50 when it opened in 1971!
  • It costs about $100,000 for the fireworks EVERY NIGHT for Cinderella's Castle.
  • Manure is the third most recycled material at Disney. (what??)
  • What does EPCOT stand for? --Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. (betcha didn't know that one!!)
  • It's illegal to have basements in Florida so the "underground tunnels" aren't really underground, and when you take the elevator up, you will arrive at Magic Kingdom on the 2nd floor!

More updates coming soon!
